Learn to do good. Seek justice. Reprove the ruthless. Defend the orphan. Plead for the widow. -Isaiah 1:17

Community Outreach

trashpickersOver 500,000 villages in India have never heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. In response to this need, dozens of lay pastors in the Asha Mission network regularly travel to outlying villages engaging in house-to-house evangelism, community preaching, and Bible studies. Each of these visiting pastors serves at least 2 or 3 villages on a regular basis. In these outlying villages, the gospel is proclaimed, the poor and lepers are served, disciples are made, and churches are established. As a result, villagers are continually coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Church planting and discipleship are the main goals in Asha Mission’s community outreach. Asha Mission’s houseparents are part of a larger network of local pastors working diligently in slums, nearby unchurched areas, and outer villages. As they build trust and form relationships in the community, people are receptive in hearing the gospel. Our house parents are currently involved in home Bible studies discipling families, pastors conferences and other discipleship-focused ministry.

Village ChurchPart of Asha Mission’s long-term vision includes a training center for pastors and missionaries. The recently purchased acre and a half of land in Kolkata provides ample space for building a training center. The hope is that pastors and missionaries can be discipled, counseled and equipped to go out across India and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
