Each child at Asha Mission has a story to be told. Each boy and girl comes from a family with a past. Each story has been preceded by the stories of generations before who have tended the fields of rural India, begged on the streets of overpopulated India, searched for a means to survive in hard-pressed India, and searched to find hope in this world. As you see the children’s faces and read their stories, we want you to catch a glimpse of a beautiful nation filled with countless beautiful people. We want you to feel the urgency of the great need that still exists among these people. The need for shelter, provision, hope, justice, and mercy echoes throughout this vast land. Although the echo continues, not all have ignored the cries. The voices have been heard. For the God of the universe “rescues the poor from the cutting words of the strong, and rescues them from the clutches of the powerful. So the helpless has hope, and unrighteousness must shut its mouth” (Job 5:16). Each child is coming to know the love of an everlasting Father who became one of us and suffered for us so that we could be with Him for eternity. “We love because He first loved us” are the words of 1 John 4:19 and the words that explain our love for these children. We pray that you, too, come to love each one of them.
